FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What is Fountain City Comedy Festival (FCCF)?
A: The Fountain City Comedy Festival is a celebration of standup comedy in Kansas City, MO. The first annual festival occurred in October 2022 and featured local and regional talent alongside national headliners. This year's fest will take place October 5-7th, 2023!

 

Q: Okay but ... why the mermaid?

A: Kansas City is called "The City of Fountains" and the mermaid is here to call you home. Our amazing designs are by local artist Elise Kelly 
 
Q: Where does FCCF take place?
A: Fountain City Comedy Festival takes place at various venues in Kansas City that have been selected to showcase various neighborhoods of our wonderful city. 
 
Q: When do festival passes and/or tickets go on sale?
A: Festival tickets will go on sale upon the announcement of the lineup. We offer three day Weekend Passes for access to one headliner of your choice + unlimited access to all other shows. Tickets to individual shows will also be available for purchase. 
 
Q: How do I purchase festival passes and tickets?
A: All passes and tickets will be available on our website.

Q: I ordered passes or tickets online. How do I get them?
A: Tickets will be delivered electronically, and you can either show us on your phone or print your tickets to bring with you. If you ordered a weekend pass, you will receive a lanyard at your first show to wear the rest of the weekend.
 
Q: Are tickets and passes general admission or are there assigned seats?
A: Festival seating is general admission. People will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis. Space at some shows may be limited, and some may be standing room only after seats fill. Please get to your desired show early for the best seat selection.
 
Q: Is there an age requirement for festival shows?
A: This really depends on the venue or the act. Most shows will be 18+, but some may be 21+. Those will be noted on the FCCF website listing for the particular shows. But keep in mind that some of the material might not be suitable for young ears.
 
Q: Will there be food and drinks for sale at the shows?
A: Drinks, yes. Food will be available at some venues -  check out our list here
 
Q: How long do the shows last?
A: This will vary depending on the show, but typically they will last around 75 minutes total.
 
Q: Do you need volunteers for the festival?
A: Absolutely! Volunteers will receive access to shows they're assigned to & a free t-shirt. Please contact us at fountaincitycomedyfest@gmail.com for more information.

 

Q: How many spots do comedians get?

A: Every accepted comedian will get at least two 10-12 minute spots.

Q: Will accepted comedians get lodging?

A: We will help coordinate housing for all accepted comedians.
 
Q: Are the venues accessible?
A: This will vary depending on the venue - more information on accessibility is coming soon!
 
Q: May I take photos or video of the festival?
A: Non-flash photography is allowed. Flash photography and video will require permission and a release from festival officials. We will issue media passes to any interested outlets that wish to cover the festival. Any unauthorized photos or videos could be grounds for removal. Q: When will submissions close?
A: Submissions for this year will close June 15th!
 
Q: I cannot use my ticket or passes. Can I get a refund?
A: Unfortunately we are not able to offer refunds - we're a small operation and doing our best!
 
Q: I want to be updated with festival announcements such as headliners, lineup, ticket sales, etc. 
A: Follow us on Facebook and Instagram. This is where we’ll make any announcements about the lineup and ticket sales. Please follow us during the festival for announcements about after parties, giveaways, and special events.
